Writing can be intimidating, even if you are an experienced writer. But a process – by breaking it down to simpler steps – can help you write faster and better. After all the way you write affects how well you write.

And as you reread your draft, you will detect areas that need to be improved to reinforce your argument better. It may require you to do a little more thinking, and even in some cases more research, to find the information you need to logically prove your point.
What is the Writing Process?
- Freewriting is writing freely without regarding quality or correctness (grammar, spellings, punctuation). The purpose is to get what’s in your head on to paper or screen without stopping. You can consider this as a warmup exercise.
- Clustering is also known as mind mapping, diagramming, bubbling, etc. and is a brainstorming method. This method uses visualization to capture your thoughts. Place your topic in the center and write down related ideas, terms or words that come into your mind around it connected by lines. You can delve further into these subtopics by breaking them down as well.
- Outlining helps with neatly organizing what you have already found out through research and brainstorming. It’ll help fish out the important points that will help you tell your story, from the jumble of ideas you have gathered. And it actually makes drafting a much easier task.

Using your outline, you can now begin writing your essay. Some writers choose to write their paragraphs in order, beginning with the hook. The hook is the first few lines in your essay that will grab the readers’ attention.
Sometimes, you will already have an assigned essay type or topic, so that will save you one step. If these were not assigned to you, you have to think of possible topics that you can write on. This will also help determine the type of essay you will be writing.

So, how to write a reflection paper on a movie? Typically, a reflective paper includes two major parts: expectations and reality. For the first part, write down what you thought would happen before the event occurred. Say you went to see “The Greatest Showman.” What did you expect beforehand? Was there a reason behind your decision to watch this movie? If yes, what was it? Describe everything.

5. What Did You Except vs The Final Result
Introduction. You must hook your professor into reading your paper. Make sure you use a rhetorical question, quote, or funny saying at the beginning to draw his or her attention. Tip: if you do not consider yourself a funny person, do not use any type of amusement opening – it might look worse than you’ve expected. Don’t forget to include your thesis in the introduction part.
Nowadays, most professors require well-written papers, and are really exigent with their students. And why wouldn’t they be? Your writing skills have a powerful impact on your life. Being a good writer comes with many advantages, like having a well-designed blog, being able to express yourself fluently, or writing amazing essays.

After finishing the paper, ask for feedback from friends or family. A second opinion is always welcomed. Don’t forget to proofread your paper. Avoid any grammar mistakes, spelling error, or typos. Those will drastically drag your grade down.
